How much does it cost for timber deck oiling?
You’ve invested in a hardwood deck and it looked wonderful when first installed and oiled but it could do with some attention, right? With regular timber deck oiling & maintenance, your deck will continue to look great!
But how? Great question!
Keep reading to find out all you need to know about timber deck oiling …
Stain, vanish or oil?
Vanish doesn’t belong on a deck. It neither protects the timber or lasts long term. Keep vanish for your fingernails, not your hardwood deck.
Stain is applied to change the colour of your timbers. Although a better option than vanish, stain doesn’t offer good protection from the weather. If your deck is fully undercover, stain is fair however a product that penetrates the timber is better.
Decking oil is the best option for your deck. Water based or oil based decking oil is designed to penetrate the timbers keeping them nourished and protected from the harsh sun and rain.
DYI or professional?
If you’ve got the time, patience and know-how then DYI is for you. However, if you’d prefer to spend your weekends enjoying yourself, then call a professional in.
A professional should have a steady hand, meaning no oil on your walls and other places it shouldn’t be, they’ll check for loose screws and check the integrity of the decking boards. A professional should achieve a neat finish, they should clean up before leaving your home and should give you an invoice for payment so you have a record of the work being done.
